Dallas Animal Advocates (DAA) and the Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) present the second annual Real Men Care event celebrating men of character, commitment to and compassion for animals. The event takes place Sunday, May 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sambuca Uptown in Dallas.
This year’s honorees are David Alex, Dallas County Assistant District Attorney, who leads the DA’s team in the fight against animal cruelty and has prosecuted several high-profile animal cruelty cases; Jim Clutts, president of EchoPoint Mortgage, a longtime supporter of animal causes who has created innovative ways to involve his business associates in saving animals’ lives; and Skip Trimble, retiring chair of the Dallas Animal Shelter Commission and Legislative Chair of the Texas Humane Legislation Network, who has had more impact on state and local animal issues than any other individual.
The muscle car-themed event will feature a silent auction, raffle, complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, event photos, ‘60s music and authentic muscle cars.
Dallas DA Craig Watkins, who will present the award to Alex, and former Texas Ranger pitcher Jose Guzman are among the special guests. Radio personality Richard Hunter, one of last year’s recipients, will MC. Proceeds will benefit DAA and MAC.
The silent auction features dozens of popular and one-of-a-kind items, including four tickets to the HP Byron Nelson Championship, jewelry for all tastes and price ranges, weekend stays at Hyatt Place Dallas North by the Galleria and TownePlace Suites by Marriott/Plano, spa products, works of art, books, gift baskets and services for pet lovers, restaurant gift certificates and much more. The raffle is for one round-trip fare on Southwest Airlines. Tickets are $10 each or four for $30. Tickets can be purchased online or at the event, and winner does not have to be present.
