Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins is the first African-American elected to that position in Texas.
As DA for Dallas County, he has a 99.4 percent felony conviction rate. He protects the most vulnerable citizens by using innovative strategies like DNA testing to make sure his office is putting the right people in jail. DA Watkins’ interest in conviction integrity led to partnering with the Innocence Project of Texas to aid the wrongfully convicted.
